I most surely missed a critical point somewhere The only other two reasons not to do so I could come up with would be prohibitive costs to equip large number of soldiers with such weapons (but then Manswell used them) and some sort of Council law prohibiting them. I figure on a ship the energy required to go beyond Gardian knife-fighting would put too much strain on the ship’s core, and ship hulls would easily dissipate even dencent amounts of energy/radiation, but as an anti-personnel weapon laser could be more useful. Why haven’t you implemented them in the PV as ground weapons, if the Iron Guard possessed them some 100 years prior the narration? Now I’m mostly ignorant on higher physics (and English) but I think I remember the ME Codex describing the Kinetic Barriers as capable of stopping kinetic blasts of high speed, thus being useless against something like thrown rocks or arrows (I remember Setrus’s Shepard trolling Miranda about it in his ff).Īnyway, I was wondering, would Kinetic barriers work against lasers, with lasers possessing no mass? I run a quick search and what results I found tend towards a negative answer, which I would agree on, and which then leads to the main reason I’m writing this lengthy post about. I know you mentioned somewhere when speaking of the Iron Guard’s gear in comparison to the Marine’s that Manswell-Sempai’s thugs were provided among other things laser weapons.
